1. Is the plan nutritious, healthy, and reasonable, including at least 1200 calories per day?
2. Does the plan expect you to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes at least 3 times per week?
3. Are the diet and exercise requirements simple enough to learn, prepare for, and follow day-in and day-out?
4. Do you get to choose at least some of the foods you like?
5. Will your family (or the people you cook for and eat with) enjoy the foods in the plan?
6. Will the foods in the plan satisfy your need to eat for hunger AND pleasure, so you won't feel hungry all the time and you get to enjoy eating some of the time?
7. Can the plan be modified, without changing more than 1/4 of the overall plan, to solve any problems (food you can't eat, foods you don't like, medical restrictions on activity, etc.) while still meeting its requirements?
8. Does the plan seem custom-made for you, meaning it takes advantage of your personality strengths and exercise preferences, and fits nicely into your lifestyle requirements (work, school, family)?
9. Does the plan allow time to develop new habits and make the necessary adjustments in your life (it's not too strict, it introduces a few changes at a time, etc.)?
10. If this plan relies on willpower, have you proven in the past that you have that kind of sustained willpower?
11. If this plan schedules specific meals and exercises for a number of weeks or months, do you have a plan for what you will do when the program ends, in order to continue to lose weight and/or maintain, so you won't feel unprepared and go back to your old habits?
12. Can you see yourself living this plan for the rest of your life?
